On Sunday, May 16, Trinity’s Bridging the Gap Ministry Team welcomed 26 neighbors of all ages – children through adults – to our first “Free Haircut” event. Bonnie Williamson – member of the Bridging the Gap Ministry Team and owner of The “Mane” Difference Salon in Mechanicsburg – along with four of her stylists – Debbie, Ashley, Cami, and Doreen – provided a haircut and style to each person who attended. For some, receiving a haircut, such a simple thing, was life-changing and made them look and feel like a whole new person. We also provided a light lunch (hot dogs, chips, cookies, fruit, and water) and a goodie bag filled with shampoo, conditioner, and a comb to each neighbor who came.

One of our neighbors sent a thank you note to the church that read: Thank you for all you have done to help me. I have used your clothes closet twice (as I gained a lot of weight and had no money to get something to fit.) Today I was blessed to receive an appearance changing haircut. Perfect. I’ve needed it for years and your kindness enabled me to have that experience. She did a fantastic job. My thoughts are of appreciation for all the service you do for our Community!

Bridging the Gap Ministry Team’s purpose is to “help our neighbors meet their physical, relational, and spiritual needs.” Through the gift of haircuts, relationships were formed, our neighbors could have more confidence in their appearance, and the love of God was poured out in an unexpected way.
