Our keynote speaker for the Days of Edification will be The Rev. James Hazelwood, who currently serves as Bishop of the New England Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and author of “Everyday Spirituality: Discover a Life of Hope, Peace, and Meaning”. A pastor in congregations, a professional photographer, environmental education instructor, a disc jockey, and ice cream scooper are all part of the mix that inform his life and this book.
TO BE ELECTED: To be elected at this assembly are synod vice president, synod treasurer, synod council: 5 adults for an unexpired term ending in 2023 (2 ordained, 2 lay women, 1 lay man), 5 adults for a term ending in 2024 (2 ordained, 2 lay women, 1 lay man) and 1 youth, Consultation Committee (3 pastors, 2 laypersons), Committee on Discipline (2 pastors, 2 laypersons), at-large voting members to the 2022 Churchwide Assembly: 11 voting members (1 female youth, 1 male youth, 1 young adult any gender, 1 ordained person of color or of primary language other than English, 1 lay woman of color or of primary language other than English, 1 lay man of color or of primary language other than English, 3 ordained plus the bishop, 1 lay woman plus the vice president, and 1 lay man).
A NOTE FROM OUR NOMINATING COMMITTEE: This is a year when many nominations are needed because we must elect voting members to the 2022 Churchwide Assembly. We are still in need of persons willing to be nominated for various positions. These gifted persons are in our congregations. Please post the “Wanted” list nominations bulletin insert on your social media pages, in your digital communications, and in your print media NOW. We need names and contact information by February 3, 2021. Thank you for your help and your partnership in the Gospel.

BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION for persons nominated from the floor must be submitted to the secretary of synod by (time and date to be determined). Forms are available from conference deans and secretaries, Nominating Committee representatives, members of Synod Council, or the secretary of synod.
