Missionary in Romania
Ruth Cheng, member of St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Harrisburg, returned to Romania in time to celebrate “God’s Work Our Hands” with the Lower Susquehanna Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. This is my 7th trip to Romania over the past 4 years, and each time strengthens the relationships to our Lord with the individuals we serve. I am involved in food and clothing distribution, bible studies, cooking classes, games and activities with rural families, children and victims living in a sex-trafficking center.
The pictures are examples of activities during this past week:
Inventory of food supplies stored in the bedroom at my friend’s house in Bucharest. The supplies are distributed through the bedroom window to load the truck.
Iana Matei, president of Reaching Out Romania (sex-trafficking center) and me. She rescues victims ages 9 – 18, some who are pregnant or with babies.
Two sex-trafficking victims, ages 14 and 16
New stove for the sex-trafficking center, funded by St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church
Children singing a song at an undisclosed location (for safety reasons). Most of the families in attendance are non-Christian who want to learn about God’s love for them.
