Four women from Trinity Lutheran Church, New Holland, recently ventured to Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, to meet the Cover Girls quilt group from Bay Shore Lutheran Church. Their long-distance connection grew out of a simple need – a bulletin cover photo. A few years ago, Bay Shore Lutheran’s administrator was seeking congregational inspiration and discovered photos from Trinity, New Holland. After two years of communicating and appreciating how deeper relationships are formed, the quilters committed to getting to know one another better by removing the distance barrier. During their trip, they enjoyed sharing stories, eating, touring, and show-and-tell. This is only the beginning of their friendship, as their connectivity continues.
What can we learn from this powerful story? Sharing the good news in our congregations reaches people far and wide and results in deeper relationships. We give thanks to the following women from Trinity, New Holland, who faithfully traveled to Wisconsin to share stories and deepen relationships: Andrea Dukeman, Karin Freimuth, Doris Hunsberger and Theona Waxbom.
