
Region 8 Racial Justice and Cultural Competency – 02/09/2023

Region 8 invites you to join us for a day of Racial Justice and Equipping for Racial Equity work that fulfills the Churchwide call for rostered minister training. This day of interactive learning, discussion, and resources is also highly suitable and welcoming to lay leaders and congregational teams. Newly revised for 2023, this training includes:
- Updated best practice vocabulary for healthy discussions
- History of both racism and racial healing within the church
- Where to find the most up-to-date resources and how congregations have used them in successful growth and vitality movement
- Help to have challenging conversations even through resistance, and
- Practical next steps
Schedule for the Day
10:00 AM – Welcome and Opening Prayer, Land Acknowledgement, Accessibility Needs, and Community Agreements
10:30 AM – Best Practice Vocabulary for Discussions and Important Historical Events and Reference Points
11:30 AM – Congregational Resources Available and How to Use Them to Engage Congregations
12:00 PM – Lunch Break
1:00 PM – Trauma-Informed Care Practices, Restorative Justice Conversations, and Healing Activities for In AND Outreach
2:00 PM – Building An Active Allyship Plan

This is a virtual, one session training from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM. Cost is $25.00 per person. Registration closes one week prior to the workshop. You will receive your ZOOM invitation prior to the event.
