After he said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord. Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” When he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.” – John 20:20-23

Jesus’ first words to his disciples after the resurrection were an offering of peace. Then he breathed the Holy Spirit upon them and said, “As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” As followers of Jesus, we continue to live within that same invitation. Christ still brings us peace. Christ still breathes the Holy Spirit into our lives. Christ still sends us into the world to participate in God’s work of healing, hope, reconciliation, and love.

This half-day retreat offers a welcoming space to pause, pray, reflect, and discern together. The Rev. Jim Goodyear and Deacon Marsha Roscoe will serve as your guides exploring how God has been shaping your life – through your spiritual gifts, experiences, and relationships – and how those may become part of Christ’s ongoing mission in the world.
