The Healthy Leaders Retreat provides participants the opportunity to focus on their own spiritual, physical, and emotional needs, in community with peers. Leaders are provided a time apart for renewal and restoration.
During our progfessional development time on Tuesday, we will address how we engage in “Civil Conversations” with others and learn techniques for helping to guide others in civil conversations. Led by a group of synod leaders, including Pastor LaDonna Thomas, Pastor Chris Thomas, Pastor George Scott, Vicar DeAnn Brooks, and Ann Seitz-Brown, the Civil Conversations Project research forms the basis of the material we will be covering with lots of opportunity for putting the techniques into practice.
As has been our practice during recent Healthy Leaders Retreats, join us this year for an afternoon and evening of fun and fellowship on Monday, with a variety of options for play and relaxation. For example, indoor rock climbing, a full fitness center, basketball and volleyball courts, and other activities are available. In addition in 2020, we welcome Pastor Jim Polanzke, who will be leading a self-defense class. A first degree blackbelt and certified instructor, Jim will be sharing basic self-defense techniques, and coaching participants as they put them into practice. Of course, there are many opportunities for just relaxing with a book, or in conversation with peers in the Forklift & Palate Restaurant & Lounge.
The retreat is available to pastoral and lay staff of congregations, along with their partners or spouses.
