Boundary Training for LGBTQIA2S+ Rostered Ministers. Boundary training workshops are offered so that rostered ministers can spend intentional time alongside colleagues. It is an opportunity to frame the boundaries we keep in order to encourage healthy space to care for ourselves and ways we can support interactions that are safe and healthy. This training is open to all seminarians, deacons and pastors who identify as LGBTQIA2S+. This will be a brave and honest space for discussion and mutual learning and support, specifically addressing healing church trauma, trauma-informed care, safety in spaces not trained in LGBTQIA2S+ cultural competency, and active support of LGBTQIA2S+ youth and adults in congregational spaces. This training will be facilitated by Pastor Carla Christopher, a certified trainer and member of the BIPOC LGBTQIA2S+ community. Pastor Christopher serves as Assistant to the Bishop in Charge of Justice Ministries for Lower Susquehanna Synod. This training is pre-certified for Lower Susquehanna Synod and United Lutheran Seminary. A certificate of completion is provided. All synods and seminaries are invited, please check with individual candidacy committees, seminaries, or synod offices to ensure certificate will be accepted.
This is a one-day training on Thursday, September 29, 2022 from 11:00AM to 4:00PM EST held on ZOOM. Cost is $25.00 per person. Registration closes one week prior to the workshop. You will receive your ZOOM invitation via email prior to the event. For more information, please email Marty Shifflett at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 717-652-1852 ext. 115.
