AGO Community Hymn Sing
September 15 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm| Free
Did you know that organists around the country meet in local groups called a “chapter” who belong to a national organization? Your local Lancaster area does and it is called the Lancaster Chapter of the American Guild of Organists (AGO). They have a board and meet almost monthly looking at various topics related to playing the organ.
This month they are meeting at Trinity Lutheran Church, 47 West Main Street in Mount Joy, to do a hymn sing, and the congregation and community are invited to come and join in! The event takes place on Sunday, September 15 at 6:30 p.m. Members from the Lancaster Chapter are choosing “favorites” and volunteering to play. As Joy Ide, the Trinity Lutheran organist, says, “Trinity has a nice three manual (keyboards) Mohler/Walker organ of about 50 ranks of pipe and digital voices with lots of memory. The organ really ‘fills’ the building!” Near the conclusion of the hymn sing, there should also be time for requests from the congregation. Please join us as we “make a joyful noise unto the Lord.” – Greg Gehman, Program Committee
