Position: Part-Time Music Director
Description: St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in York, PA, is seeking a Part-Time Music Director. This is a quarter-time position (10 hrs./wk) with weekly choir rehearsals on Thursday evenings, one Sunday worship service (traditional Lutheran Holy Communion liturgy in various settings) at 8:45 a.m., and seasonal special services (Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Holy Week, etc.). A worship service is pre-recorded for livestreaming on Wednesday or Thursday each week. Additional compensation is available when the Music Director does the video editing and schedules it to premiere on social media. In addition to playing the rebuilt and solid state refurbished M.P. Möller two-manual, 15 rank pipe organ and tuned upright piano for worship services, the Music Director will direct the adult vocal choir (weekly September-Trinity Sunday) and hand bell choir (monthly September-May) . During the COVID-19 pandemic, we are doing extremely limited congregational singing and no voice choir. This will change as the pandemic eases. The Music Director will work with the pastor to plan music for worship and will also be responsible for reporting to licensing websites. Current background clearances required. Compensation range $10,000-$15,000 depending on qualifications and scope of work.
