Position:  Contemporary Music Leader

Zion Lutheran Church is seeking to fill the position of Contemporary Music Leader to be responsible for leading worship through music at the Saturday evening multimedia service. This position works closely with our Contemporary Music Director to lead vocal and instrumental music through singing and playing the piano for the Saturday Evening multimedia service.  Zion is a vibrant congregation with four services each weekend. This is a part-time position three Saturdays a month with one practice and one worship service. The approximate hours per month is 18-20 hours.

Salary and benefits would be determined based on education and experience.  Qualified candidates should demonstrate proficiency in musical skills specifically in the areas associated with contemporary Christian music with the ability to play piano and be able to read music. Qualified candidates would possess knowledge of ELCA’s religious beliefs, general understanding of Christian concepts, teaching and Lutheran liturgy.

The responsibilities would include, but not be limited to:

  • Lead and perform music at multimedia worship services on Saturday expect for the 2nd Saturday of the month
  • Schedule and lead rehearsals of the band and musicians
  • Lead the singing of songs and hymns at the Saturday Contemporary service through the bands
  • Carry out assigned duties related to Easter and Christmas worship services
