We are located in the central part of the state and cover a nine-county area that reaches from rural Fulton County to the urban areas of Harrisburg, York, and Lancaster. Filling the Reservoir: A Sabbath Retreat for the Parched and Rostered

Sponsored by the
Leadership Support Committee of The Lower Susquehanna Synod, ELCA

Dr. Luther confessed he was sometimes so overwhelmed and weary with his work that he felt "cold and disinterested in prayer." If you have ever felt like this then you are invited to steal away with us. This Sabbath retreat will re-introduce a few of the church's classical spiritual practices and help us make the connection between the prayerful life and public ministry.

  • Date: Monday, April 30th - 7:00 p.m. through Tuesday, May 1st – 3:00 p.m.
  • Location: Zinn-Tozer Lodge at Camp Nawakwa, Arendtsville, PA
  • Cost: $43.00 per person - includes lodging and two meals and program costs. Meals include breakfast and lunch on May 1st. Participants may wish to bring a snack or beverage to share for our time together on Monday evening.
  • Leader: The Rev. Dr. John Largen, Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary
  • Registration Deadline: April 18 at midnight. No walk-in registrations will be taken.

“MISSION POSSIBLE”

Criminal Justice System Ministry

Everyone has a story to tell. That is the refrain you hear in the meetings of the Criminal Justice System (CJS) Ministry in our synod: everyone has a story to tell about a friend or family member on probation or parole, in jail or prison, working as an attorney or being impacted by crime.

One pastor has a passion for these stories. The Rev. Sadie Pounder, Associate Pastor at Holy Trinity in Lancaster and voice of CJS Ministry in our synod, has discovered her calling to hear and empower the stories of others affected by the Criminal Justice System.

People leaving prison face many challenges. Often they cannot afford basic supplies. DOWNLOAD a Basket of Love brochure and discover how you can help those in the criminal justice system.

Read more and get a copy of the most recent release of the Mission Possible bulletin insert in color or black and white. To receive a reminder email about “Mission Possible” each month, please forward your email address to mshifflett@lss-elca.org.
