FILL THE TRUCK TO FEED THE CHILDREN

This year at Synod Assembly we will feed the hungry with Fill The Truck to Feed the Children. Working with the Central PA Food Bank, we will provide nourishing food for children who rely on free or reduced-priced school breakfasts, lunches and weekend BackPack Programs. Together, we feed others as we have been fed by Christ.

Between now and Synod Assembly, you are invited to collect the specific food items listed below. Monetary gifts are also welcome and appreciated. Please make your checks payable to Lower Susquehanna Synod and mark them “Fill the Truck” so that your gift is properly credited.

To help “Fill the Truck,” we will have volunteers on site at Messiah College to accept donations on Friday, June 2 from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and again on Saturday, June 3 from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. conveniently in the Starry Parking.  To make deliveries easier, our shuttle service will stop at the food drop-off site on the way to the High Center so you don’t have to carry the donations too far.  If your congregation donates an abundance of items that are difficult to manage delivery on your own at assembly, please make arrangements with someone in your congregation to deliver the donated items on Friday or Saturday.

List of suggested items for donation:

  • flip top (easy open) cans of tuna fish or chicken
  • peanut butter (either the to go cups or small jars)
  • 100% fruit juice
  • shelf-stable milk boxes
  • individual serving cups of fruit
  • single serve microwavable meals like Chef Boyardee or Mac and Cheese or Minute Rice ready to serve packs
  • granola bars
  • individual serving cups of applesauce

NOTE:  All items must be labeled, factory sealed and in good condition.

Interested in volunteering on June 2 or 3?  Please sign-up here.
