"Alive, Alive"
“no matter what"
Middle School Youth and Advisors
to gather for Alive, Alive 2011
Friday,
September 23, 2011 to Sunday, September 25, 2011
Camp Nawakwa
Start publicizing now for this year’s Alive, Alive. Families of current 5th, 6th and 7th graders will appreciate the heads-up as we plan for another exciting year. Our theme, “no matter what” speaks to the love God has for us, God’s children, in Christ Jesus. No matter what we’ve done or haven’t done, no matter how messed up or broken we think we are, God loves and nothing can separate us from that love in Christ. Youth can look forward to some of their favorite activities, like large group games, small group conversations with new friends and old, the dance, lots of outdoor activities, the return of the bonfire, and worship at Upper Temple.
Congregations received the registration mailing in February, but all registrations will again occur online. Links to online registration and all necessary forms can be found below:

"Alive, Alive 2010"
Middle
school youth and advisors from 45+ local congregations gathered at Nawakwa
on a weekend with great “fall-like” weather. Our theme, “Judgment Free Zone” came
to life with lots of opportunities to meet and get to know new friends, without
worrying about how we came across. Large group featured “minute-to-win-it” games,
lots of fun music by Lauren Bricker with Tom & Zach Stank, and video clips
from some favorite TV shows and movies that reminded us how easily we judge
others without thinking sometimes. Small group conversations and activities
were fun, and there was plenty of time for games like Ultimate Frisbee and
Gaga. We worshipped at Upper Temple on a gorgeous, sunny morning with Pastor
Naomi Carriker leading worship. Our only hope is that in 2011, a few more congregations
join us for this fun and faithful weekend event.
Alive, Alive has been around for 19 years, and is a weekend where middle
school youth and their youth leaders can find genuine Christian community,
fun, inspiring conversation and worship. Congregational groups stay in cabins
and can look forward to some group bonding along with meeting new friends in
small groups where the weekend theme is discussed and actively lived out. There
are games, campfires, a dance, lots of social time and large groups that include
singing, drama, inspiring speakers and video, and interactive learning. Youth
can look forward to a nice balance of faith formation, fun and fellowship with
other Lutheran teens.
Scheduled
for mid-September, it is a beautiful fall weekend at Camp Nawakwa, but always
a little tough to plan for since many congregations do not have active youth
ministries throughout the summer. So, this year we have added the online registration
option to streamline registering in mid-spring, instead of waiting till late
summer. The registration links above provide all the information you need to
register yourself and the youth of your church. Don’t miss this opportunity
to add a great event to your youth calendar without a lot of extra planning
on your part!
