Youth/Young Adults
Synod Youth Ministry Vision
To equip congregations, youthworkers, parents, and youth with the tools to create a culture that develops a vital, active, living faith in Christ Jesus in the lives of our youth and their families.
Ministry with children, youth and young adults, or ministry in the first third of life is what this section of our website is all about. Faith formation continues to be a partnership between the home, the congregation, this office, and the many youth and adults who volunteer countless hours in Christian education, event ministry and servant learning and travel. With important leadership provided by the Lower Susquehanna Synod Lutheran Youth Organization (LSSLYO), this office strives to be a hub for downloadable forms and resources, information sharing, assistance with congregational youth ministry planning, and youth event management.

Leadership Training Camp Now Registering
for July 2012
The Office for Children’s, Youth & Family Ministry focuses much of its ministry on faith formation with teens and their parents. But what if a young person is displaying the spiritual gift of leadership? How can you as a parish pastor or youth worker help them get specific training to further strengthen those gifts and use them in service to our Lord, our congregations, and others. Pastor Dana Blouch-Hanson first found her voice and the confidence to share those gifts at our synod’s annual Leadership Training Camp. Like countless of her peers, some who went on to careers in ministry, while others pursued different vocational paths, they all learned how to practice discipleship in daily life in ways that brought them into closer relationship within their Christian communities and with God in Jesus Christ. Who will you recommend?
LT Camp is funded by a generous grant from Gordon & Sandy Lamb, who for the past 20 years have paid for all first-year LT’s to attend at no cost. Sandy lost her battle with lung cancer in summer 2010, but Gordon has continued this tradition so that if you have a candidate, they will pay nothing to attend, however they must be recommended by a pastor or youth worker in order to apply. Get a LT Camp Registration Form at this link, or visit the LT Camp web page for more details and testimonials.
Camp is scheduled for July 29-August 3, 2012.

LutheranHANDS Plans Both a Winter and Summer Trip to Alabama to Assist with Tornado Relief
LutheranHANDS
was founded by two local Lutherans who wanted to give their peers an outlet
for living out their discipleship in hands-on, practical service venues. They
have led hundreds of youth, adults, and youth leaders to the American gulf
coast to help with hurricane clean-up and rebuilding efforts over the past
five years. In 2011, the focus on flood relief continued here in central PA, but in now trips are being planned to Birmingham, Alabama to assist in tornado relief. A winter trip is scheduled as well as a trip that will begin three days prior to the ELCA Youth Gathering next summer, that includes a couple days of work rebuilding in Alabama, before going on to New Orleans for the Gathering. To get more information about either of these servant trips, or to get involved in year-round ministry with LutheranHANDS, log onto their website at http://lutheranhands.org.
