Welcome! Ministry with children, youth and young adults, or ministry in the first third of life is what this section of our website is all about. Faith formation continues to be a partnership between the home, the congregation, this office, and the many youth and adults who volunteer countless hours in Christian education, event ministry and servant learning and travel. With important leadership provided by the Lower Susquehanna Synod Lutheran Youth Organization (LSSLYO), this office strives to be a hub for information sharing, assistance with congregational youth ministry planning and youth event management.

Plan now for the 2009 ELCA Youth Gathering

July 22-26, 2009
New Orleans, LA

The theme for this triennial Youth Gathering draws from the rich faith history, diverse cultures, and arts of New Orleans. It will stretch our understandings of what it means to live in relationship and service with each other in the manner of Christ for life! Our office will host two pre-registration planning and information sessions:

Monday, June 9, 7:00 PM at Grace Lutheran Church in Camp Hill, PA
Thursday, June 12, 7:00 PM at Messiah College in Grantham, PA
   (This session is part of the annul Synod Assembly)

    
Calendar of Events

Leadership Training Camp, scheduled for July 20-26, 2008, is now registering. Congregations received nomination forms in February, but you can also download a pdf of the form at this site, on the Registration Forms page.

Our annual Alive, Alive Youth Event for junior high youth will be held September 19-21, 2008. Registration forms were sent to congregations in March and are available on this site in an easy to print format.

To be added to our new e-newsletter, "Youth Ministry Stuff," sent about once a week to congregational youth leaders and volunteers, notify synod Director for Youth Ministry, Charlie Roberts, at croberts@lss-elca.org.
