In a recent communication with the Gulf Coast Synod we have learned that "Operation Compassion" (the feeding of evacuees in the Astrodome, Reliant Arena, and George Brown Convention Center) is essentially over. Evacuees have been speedily transferred to other locations. Funds, however, are still needed to assist pastors, associates in ministry, and youth workers in that synod. Contributions may be sent to the Texas-Louisiana Gulf Coast Synod Disaster Fund. The fund is administered by that synod. The needs to supplement incomes continues. The needs to support the redevelopment of each congregation is enormous. They also are matching sponsors to specific congregations.
