Dates and locations set for Disaster 101 training for volunteers

Seeking information about disaster response? Interested in traveling to the Gulf Coast to volunteer in Hurricane Katrina recovery? Interested in learning more about Lutheran Disaster Response and its work in disaster response locally, in the Mid-Atlantic region, nationally? The Lower Susquehanna Lutheran Disaster Response Network (LSLDRN) offers frequent training and information sessions. The training will prepare persons responding to God's call to walk with survivors of disaster. Information will be provided through pictures, video, handouts, first-person accounts and small-group discussions with trainers who have deployed to disasters. Join us in preparing for a truly life-changing experience.

Locations and Dates:

Please note: registration is REQUIRED for all trainings in order to provide adequate facilities, training materials and trainers for small group interaction. All trainings are held on Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Training sites are geographically distributed throughout the Lower Susquehanna Synod. Training is free. Light refreshments are provided. All trainers are members of the LSLDRN Leadership Corps and veterans of disaster response. All facilities are donated or provided at minimal cost. PLEASE NOTE: to conserve resources, we need a minimum of six people to hold the training. A decision will be made by noon of the Wednesday prior to the training. If we don't have six people registered by Wednesday, the training will be cancelled and those who are registered will be notified by telephone and/or e-mail. When registering please provide your personal contact information. When registering as a congregation or other group, please provide name and contact information for the group leader.

2007 training sessions are as follow:

We can bring Disaster Response (Disaster 101), Pandemic Preparedness and Congregational Disaster Preparedness Planning training to your congregation or group. Minimum suggested to hold a congregational or group training is 15-20. We need your request at least 30 days in advance of the proposed date.
