Photos and Acknowledgments
Sheltered by umbrellas, rain coats, and truck awnings, volunteers worked in the pouring rain to load an 18-wheeler with material aid destined for victims of Hurricane Katrina in Mississippi. The
truck, donated by Tyson Foods Inc., pulled
into the parking lot of Tree of Life
Lutheran Church, Harrisburg, early October
7. It was already half full of items
collected October 6 from corporate donors,
individuals, and Lutheran congregations
in the Lancaster area. By 4:30 p.m. the
truck was full—rakes, shovels, axes and mops were poked in wherever they fit—and
the truck was bound for Mississippi. In just three short weeks, Lutherans and friends in the Lower Susquehanna Synod mobilized and answered the call to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Thanks!
To the project
coordinators, Pastor Richard B. Geib, Tree of Life Lutheran Church, Harrisburg, and to Robert Getz, Denver, a member of Synod Council, who recruited donors and volunteers and saw the collection through until the truck pulled out of the parking lot. To

Foods, Inc; Boose Alum. Foundary; Richard

word of thanks from Pastor Richard
Geib: Thanks to each of you who contributed to this project. It was meaningful in many ways for many people, certainly helpful to those who will benefit by the gifts, likely more helpful to those who will benefit by the giving, and a fair act of faith in the Lord of the Church who motivates us to do such things. Thanks be to God!
