Itete Earthquake Relief

On Sunday, September 25, 2011, an earthquake struck the Itete region of the Konde Diocese, causing damage to several homes and to the Itete Lutheran Hospital. Several aftershocks occurred in the following weeks.

While this earthquake was not destructive in terms of injuries to people, several homes and buildings were damaged. This included some pastors’ homes. At Itete Hospital, homes used for the housing of staff members and the Men’s Ward were damaged. Two staff homes at the hospital had to be condemned.

Because of the rural nature of the Itete region, rebuilding and repairing is going to take time. But with your assistance these homes can be rebuilt or repaired. If you are able to provide a gift, it will be used to support rebuilding efforts. Please make your check payable to the Lower Susquehanna Synod and note “Itete Earthquake Relief” on the memo line. Please send gifts to the Lower Susquehanna Synod, 900 S. Arlington Ave., Suite 220B, Harrisburg, PA 17109.

Thanks be to God for your interest in supporting these relief efforts.
