The Lower Susquehanna Synod

Quick Facts: Lower Susquehnna Synod

With 238 churches and over 111,000 baptized members, our synod is one of the largest of the 65 synods in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, the fifth largest Protestant denomination in the United States.

It might make the concept of “synod" a little clearer if you think of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America as our "country," with the 65 synods being the "states." Just as states are divided into counties, so our synod is divided geographically into conferences. Our churches would be the equivalent to a city or town.
